What Is Rosacea?

Recognizing a rosacea skin condition will enable you to seek appropriate rosacea medication and treatments for rosacea skin.  Although there is no known rosacea cure, dilligent care of your condition will minimize your discomfort and pain.

Symptoms of the skin condition called Rosacea occur after a period of time. In the beginning the patients observe their skin has become very sensitive and they blush far more easily than before. Almost all kind of facial care products burn the face skin and it gets quickly irritated.

In time, symptoms of Rosacea get more visible and a sort of cheek redness occurs, resembling a sunburn reaction. All symptoms of the initial Rosacea are transitory. Pictures of Rosacea

The most common signs of Rosacea are:

1.  Facial redness or flushing after sun exposure or consuming alcohol.  Both increase the blood flow to the facial area and the blood vessels tend to expand causing the redness of the facial skin.  The red pattern has different forms in men and women.  Men usually show signs of redness on the nose, upper chest and neck but it can appear in other facial areas as well.  In women the flushing is localized on the cheeks, nose and forehead or in a butterfly form across cheeks and nose.

2.  Pimples occur on the red areas or on the edges and can be identified as different from acne Pictures of Rosaceapoints as they do not have black or white heads.  Papulopustular Rosacea evolves with the appearance of small pimples, flushing and thin, visible blood vessels. You need to use both ointments and antibiotics for this condition.

Pictures of Rosacea3.  The small thin blood vessels become visible and look like a spider web.  Red thin lines appear especially on the cheeks and are known as Teleangiectasia.  A connection between Rosacea and migraine headaches has been discovered to be caused by the increased blood flow in the blood vessels.

Pictures of Rosacea4.  A swollen nose may become obvious, mostly in men, where the nose also enlarges and stays permanently red.

5.  Eye irritations evolve with redness, burning, drying, mucous secretions, tearing, conjunctivitis and swollen eyelids. Patients with rosacea do not tolerate eye lenses and in severe cases the vision might be damaged.  Ocular Rosacea is diagnosed when the eyes are dry, red and irritated, the eyelids are swollen and you have a permanent sensation of foreign objects in the eye.  In severe cases the patients feel pain and have troubled vision.  Artificial tears, ointments and antibiotics may help.

6.  Phymatous type of Rosacea includes thin skin and enlarged pores. It is usually localized on the nose causing rhynophyma, but can also occur on the forehead, chin or eyelids.  Pimples, flushing and thin blood vessels can appear and the early treatment is Isotrentinoin.  Later you may have to appeal to laser resurfacing.

Symptoms of Rosacea usually improve in 2-4 weeks of treatment. Identifying and avoiding triggers must be a part of the cure.

Being a red-carpet star does not guarantee one a smooth and flawless complexion. More than often, in the public limelight, celebrities conceal their acne problems with loads of makeup. For photo shoots or magazine covers, we always see them with beautiful skin, but how much of that is real with the ingenuity of Photoshop nowadays?

Celebrities often have health trainers, nutritionists, on hand to advise them on their  Health and Beauty Regimes , but in reality many still suffer from acne. Acne hits the hardest on celebrities, especially when they have to be consistently in the limelight. Any unflattering pictures of bad skin days are often featured on tabloids or circulated on the World Wide Web in an instant. In recent years, celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, etc, have been known to reveal their long time struggles with their acne condition. It is definitely not easy on them considering these extra obstacles they have to face as compared to another fellow acne sufferer.

The chances of their skin not being able to "breathe" and their pores being blocked are much higher than an average person. Even male celebrities are not spared from heavy make-up as long as they are in the limelight. With their busy schedules, celebrities who already suffer from acne will find it difficult to have a day of freedom without anything on their face. It is a vicious cycle that repeats itself daily and something that is beyond their control.

Just like any other acne sufferer, celebrities who have acne seem to have it harder than the rest. As an average Joe with acne, you might feel already embarrassed and psychologically disturbed by the way others look at you. Can you imagine the additional  Emotional Stress that celebrities have to face with so many eyes looking at them around the world?

If you feel that you are alone in battling acne, take comfort in knowing that anyone else, even celebrities, are also dealing with the same thing, Acne is a very common skin problem in this world, do not despair too early if you have acne. Instead, deal with it positively and find the most appropriate way of healing your acne problem.
