All Natural Mineral Makeup

For acne, mineral makeup is applied in a gentle tapping motion, so as not to damage already sensitive skin.  True mineral makeup will not clog pores and will even out skin tone and help hide redness & defects.

Mineral makeup is popping up everywhere – from the cosmetics counter, to the shopping on TV, people are talking about it. So what’s all the hype about and what really is the difference between mineral and traditional cosmetics? Read on to find out…

Mineral makeup has become extremely popular in the past few years. You can’t help but turn on the TV and catch an infomercial for a popular mineral makeup brand or walk past a mineral makeup shop. Mineral makeup is not only sold on TV or in specialty shops, but is now carried by many popular makeup brands and can be found in almost any makeup counter and online. So why is it such a sought after product?

There’s no doubt that mineral makeup is becoming the rage. And there’s a reason for that: women are finding these powder foundations to be easy to apply, actually fun to apply, and able to provide a smooth, flawless finish. In addition, women appreciate the fact that they contain natural sun protection. And many have noticed that over time their skin has fewer breakouts, and a decrease in any redness (which some call rosacea) – even with no makeup on!

The latest trend in cosmetics is pure mineral makeup. These minerals actually come from the earthTrue Mineral Makeup and are healthy for your skin. Times are changing and let’s face it, do we want to have that pasty look from liquid or pressed powder foundations? I should say not. Mineral foundations will give you better coverage, even out skin tone, and give your skin a healthy glow.

Environment and health has become an important component in all walks of life and makeup is no exception to it. Mineral makeup has been around for 30 years in countries such as Egypt, Morocco, India, Algeria etc but it has seize the attention of make up industry just recently. It was originally developed for plastic surgeons and dermatologists to be used on patients after various cosmetic procedures to cover the redness and soreness.

Supporters of this type of make up believe it is purer than normal products, which contain perfumes and chemicals and its natural products create no allergies. Cynics argue that the ingredients are present in conventional make up and no particular benefits (health wise) can be found in this type of make up.

You love looking glamorous, and that includes wearing makeup designed to make you look gorgeous. But when that makeup causes your skin to break out in an itchy rash, it kind of defeats the purpose. One way that those with skin allergies can reach their beauty mark is to use mineral makeup.

While most mineral cosmetics claim to be made with natural or safe ingredients, it is still important to read the ingredient list as some companies may include some chemical compounds. If at all possible, avoid paraben preservatives and choose only 100% certified organic mineral makeup.

Makeup for Oily Skin

Beauty may not be skin deep, but when it comes to makeup, it is very much that. There are scores of women across the world with oily skin type and thus have associated problems while applying makeup for their face.

All Natural Mineral Makeup, True Mineral Makeup

The best makeup for acne prone skin is an all natural mineral makeup.  True mineral makeup, also referred to as acne mineral makeup, will not clog your pores.  Read on for a review of 3 products; one that worked and two that didn’t.

I will tell you everything you need to know about foundation for acne-prone skin. I have discovered the secret foundation for acne-prone skin: mineral makeup. Not until now have I ever been satisfied with the outcome of my daily makeup routines due to my terrible acne. Mineral makeup has been the only type of foundation that has not made me break out.

The Good Stuff = bareminerals

The first time I heard about this mineral makeup stuff was a few years ago and I just thought it was a craze that would end in a few months. I mean, mineral makeup?? How could stuff that looks so light cover the many pimples and acne scars I have? Plus wouldn’t the powder just make my skin look even drier than it already is? Having very acne-prone skin was a major pain and no matter how much lotion I put on, the concealer & foundation I used just became flaky.

Luckily just this year my friend who has amazing looking skin (who surprisingly has an acne problem too) recommended I try this out. I was a little skeptical but because nothing else seemed to work, I decided to buy the bareMinerals kit that Sephora sells for $60 (this includes 2 shades of powder foundation, 1 warmth (it’s like blush/bronzer), 1 mineral veil, and 3 types of brushes..I say good deal!) And well, I love it! It covers up the acne, acne scars, redness, and evens out my skin. It took a few tries to get used to powder (I used to use liquid foundation) but once you get used to it, it’s very easy to use.

4/5 rating for i.d.bareMineral foundation! It’s terrific.

The Bad Stuff:

For around a little over $40 I thought that the foundation and powder was a good deal and I was excited to go home and try it. But as usual, I was terribly and sadly disappointed.

The foundation caused an increasingly and uncomfortable amount of dryness. No amount of lotion helped and I felt like I was stuck in this mask of M.A.C cake. And it was unbelievable what it did to my acne! Literally an hour after putting it on, I noticed small bumps forming on my skin. How lovely, more pimples already?

I later heard from a friend that M.A.C is horrible for your skin (well, of course. I figured out the hard way) and is only good for photoshoots.

2/5 rating. Good coverage but makes acne worse and dries out skin

#2 Benefit Non-fiction Foundation

Same as M.A.C foundation but just not as bad. It makes your acne worse and dries out your skin but just not as bad as M.A.C does. The coverage is good but a little bit of hell for your skin. I used this stuff only when I was desperate.

It was about $30 when I bought it but I think it’s only about $15 now.
A headsup: certain things work for certain people; this foundation failed for me.

3/5 rating. A decent option but not good.

Acne-prone skin is hard to work with and good foundation is hard to come by. Luckily, I found one that worked well with my horrible acne and found out quick enough not to stick with the ‘bad stuff’. Mineral makeup may be the solution to covering up your acne, acne scars and other problems that come with having acne-prone skin as it was for me.

Best Makeup for Acne Prone Skin

The best makeup for acne prone skin is a true mineral makeup product.  When considering an acne mineral makeup foundation, be sure it’s free of talc and other pore clogging additives.

From age 16, I was plagued with complexion that was less than perfect. Maybe it’s my Southern European genes that supplied me with dense, thick, oily skin. Maybe my acne resulted from less than pristine environment, stress from entrance exams in the University, then early onset of job stress multiplied by unhappy relationships and fast food diet. Who knows. The result was persistent adult acne, albeit moderate one. My skin required daily meticulous application of a concealer, a foundation, and either a powder or blotting papers.

By the time I hit 28 and developed a foolproof program to get rid of acne for good, I developed the following makeup routine that works for me even today when I need to cover my post acne marks and discolorations.

To start with, you need a really good foundation. Ideally, this should be a mineral powder foundation that you can apply either wet or dry. I like my minerals to be free from bismuth oxychloride which may be quite irritating, and free of silicones, talc, and preservatives. Laura Mercier, Sheer Cover, and Alima foundations are some of the best ones I tried.

So here’s the step by step acne coverage routine.
1. Apply the foundation to acne-affected areas using a gentle tapping motion. The tapping motion will All Natural Mineral Makeupblend the foundation evenly without rubbing your skin and irritating the acne even more.

2. Using a fingertip or a Q-tip dot the acne pimples with another layer of foundation. I prepare my own acne concealer by blending a mineral powder foundation with tea tree oil. A drop will stay put all day long while healing acne with nature’s antibacterials.

3. Finish with either loose powder or another layer of mineral foundation. Use a swirling motion to set the powder. Avoid inhaling a mineral dust which may settle in your lungs. Too much powder will give you a freshly plastered look.

If you need to cover up a freshly erupted acne zit, don’t overload it with liquid concealers that usually fail to stay intact. Instead, tap the acne pimple with a fine layer of mineral foundation. Then apply a dot of undiluted tea tree oil – just a dot with a Q-tip! Let it soak in and follow with another fingertip tap of mineral powder. This way, your pimple will heal under a protective cover of mineral foundation which usually contains zinc oxide for extra anti-inflammatory action.
